Dear Media, Protesters, & Social Media Hashtag Warriors:
It is not enough to #standagainsthate.
We must love.
Even those with whom we disagree.
Especially those with whom we disagree.
Those who hate us.
Those we are tempted to hate.
Love the weirdos.
Love the Misfits.
The ornery.
The stubborn.
The obnoxious.
The annoying.
The ones who say stupid things.
The ones who make you feel stupid.
The ones who won’t even acknowledge your love.
You know why?
Because they need it.
You need it, too. So pray they love you back. And even if they don’t, love them anyway.
Because my friend, until we do that, we are just placating ourselves and perpetuating the cycle of evil.
And we don’t want to do that.
We can do better.
If we choose.
You.
And me.
