Being Known: From Shame to Community — A Conversation with Gary Ingram

https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-gzpcr-1a6d6be

Garry Ingram,  founder and president of Love and Truth Network is back on the Isle and it’s not just for the Stupid Game (although it’s a great one, if I do say so myself) but for an important conversation where we explore loneliness, shame, and the human longing to be truly known. Among other things, we discuss how isolation and secrecy drive spiritual and sexual brokenness, the church’s role in healing, and the need for curiosity, grace, and responsibility.

Gary also shares his compelling personal story of abuse and restoration, if you didn’t catch it on his first visit to the Isle (which we highly recommend, and you can listen to it right here).

This is one of those episodes you really want to share, if you know anyone who appreciates transparency and could use some encouragement in the area of finding authentic community… cause it’s out there!

Prayer of St. Francis (referenced in the show):
Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong,
 I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to
comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.
