Merry Christmas to you, my Misfit Friends!
And though many of you have already torn through rolls of wrapping paper… here’s a little somethin somethin for those quiet, reflective moments as you emerge from your cookie induced coma later on today.

my multi-talented seester!
Twas a night like no other in Bethlehem town
All the people were stirring and bustling around
They were there for the census, by Caesar’s decree
And they had to be counted, every last family
That’s when Joseph and Mary, they entered the scene
On the long road from Nazareth in Galilee
They were tired from their journey, I bet you’d be, too
And they needed a place to stay, yes it’s true
But not only a place for slumber and resting
They needed a place where they could be nesting
Cause it happened to be that she was expecting
A miracle child, who would need their protecting
And the time for that child to be born had come near
They knew it was going to happen right here
But the town was so crowded, there were no rooms in sight
Where were they going to stay for the night?
Surely God knew their need, surely He had a plan
Though just how, in that moment, they did not understand
But one thing they knew, He is faithful and true
And if God calls you to it, then He will come through
So even though there was no room at the Inn
God found the right nest for all three of them
In a stable, sharing the animal’s space!
Next to donkeys and cows they had come face to face!
With the brays and the moos and all manner of sighing
Came the very first coos of a newborn crying
The baby was born! At long last He was here!
And they swaddled Him up, and they held Him so near
And if God calls you to it,
(you know it’s true!)
then He will come through
Then they placed him to sleep in a manger with hay
Cause there was no crib in which He could lay
So he rested his head where the animals eat
And I can’t help but think that they laid at His feet
Now while this new family took in this new sight
There were shepherds nearby, watching flocks for the night
When an angel appeared from out of the sky
And as you can imagine, they were terrified!
But the angel said “Don’t be afraid, here’s GOOD NEWS”
For today a Savior has been born to you!
Here is a sign, so you know there’s no danger.
You will find him wrapped up as a babe in a manger.”
Then suddenly angels were everywhere
A great number of heavenly host filled the air
Shouting “Glory to God, and Good will to all men!”
Then they left, and the shepherds said “Let’s go to Bethlehem!”
So they hurried and found them there, just like they’d said
And of course this GOOD NEWS, it just had to bespread!
So spread it they did, and all were amazed
By this baby who napped where the animals grazed
Now Mary just treasured this all in her heart
For she had remembered how all this did start
With an angel encounter and a promise from God
That, all things considered, seemed somewhat odd
But a promise from God, is a promise that’s kept
And I can’t help but think, as the newborn King slept
That she worshiped her Savior, for he was no stranger
And the throne where He lay, so much MORE THAN A MANGER
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
