Hey, it’s September!
And you know what that means?
Summer is STILL NOT OVER, that’s what!
Oh, I know it’s Back to School. Back to the thrill of routines, schedules, reasonable bed times, all that. And I KNOW all you Pumpkin Spicers have been champing at the bit.
And it’s true, the spark of fall is in the air, reminding us that it’s almost time to turn the page and embrace a new season. Let go. Move on. Yeah, yeah, I know.
I get it.
But may I remind you, as I write, there are still 21 days until the Fall equinox. Let me rephrase: there are THREE FULL WEEKS OF SUMMER left. That’s not just me and my denial talking, either; that’s the facts, Jack. And I don’t mean Jack-o-Lantern. It’s all right there, spelled out on the calendar, according to the Laws of Planetary Motion, friend. Don’t blame me. Blame astronomy. Unless you want to be a science denier.
Why am I so worked up about this?
Let me tell you why.
Sometimes when we’re in transition, we can become so focused on what’s coming that we may be tempted to miss what’s right in front of us. We can look so far ahead that we overlook the present. Don’t get me wrong. It’s good to be prepared. Heaven knows we need more responsible adults around. But we also have a responsibility to ourselves to not miss the moment we’re in. Even if it’s just only a few weeks. Or a few days. Or right now.
All I’m saying is, I am very aware that Fall is indeed coming. And it’ll be great. Falling leaves, sweater weather, all that. It will be here soon and very soon. But not yet.
Sometimes when we’re in transition,
Two paragraphs above
we can become so focused on what’s coming
that we may be tempted to miss
what’s right in front of us.
Don’t put the shorts and sandals away just yet. The sun is still shining, friends. There’s still a bit of time to get a tan line, and who knows, maybe some of your best summer memories are still to come.
Think ahead, sure. Just don’t live ahead.
And enjoy these last 3 weeks of THIS season!

Oh yeah. Let’s always be mindful of the future, but being in the present is life as it’s meant to be. After all, ever been with someone who is elsewhere right in front of you or head down on their mobile
There’s something to be said for, “Where’d you rather be than right here, right now?” Hats off to Marv Levy!
